Laid-off workers given tuition aid
Former employees of Aloha Airlines, ATA Airlines, Molokai Ranch, NCL America, the Weyerhaeuser Corp., and Maui Land & Pineapple Co. affected by layoffs are eligible for a one-time 50 percent tuition discount at University of Hawaii community colleges.
The Legislature set up a $70,000 Rapid Response Fund to assist recently displaced workers with training expenses. The funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis until exhausted or until the tuition discount expires on June 30.
