Exit, pursued by Bard's preposterous plot...

The only good playwright is a dead playwright, according to most actors and all directors. While this may help to explain Shakespeare being the genius of Western theater, it can lead to a problem-dead men don't rewrite. And The Winter's Tale could use some help. The plot and dialogue in this seldom-done play brings Marin Shakespeare's excellent ensemble to its knees, and makes it clear that this implausible tale is one that the Bard, given a few more years, would have rewritten.
