Article: French Inventors Develop Carbon Precursor Material Transformation System

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 16 -- Jean-Etienne Loncle of Le Haillan, France, and Pascal Pothier of Le Pian Medoc, France, have developed a method for obtaining carbon bodies.

An abstract of the invention, released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, said: "The method comprises a first stage of transforming carbon precursor material into carbon by heating, with the resulting gaseous effluent being extracted continuously, and a second stage of high temperature heat treatment under low pressure with the resulting gaseous effluent being extracted continuously.
