ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 18 -- Donald R. Moody and Courtney J. Hanson, both of Denton, Texas, and Thomas Corbet Ellis of Napier, New Zealand, have developed a metal structural member.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A metal roof truss assembly is provided comprising a plurality of elongated structural members, including a top chord, a bottom chord, and a web member. Each structural member comprises a planar base and planar legs extending from the longitudinal edges of the base. The base and the legs define an open longitudinal channel.
