The town of Cape Elizabeth issued the following news release:
A validation vote on a $19.8 million proposed school budget for 2008-09 will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m., at Cape Elizabeth High School.
Absentee voting is underway at Town Hall beginning Aug. 19, and will continue during office hours through Aug. 29. Town Hall is closed on weekends and will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.
The school budget, adopted by the Town Council at a special meeting Aug. 18, represents a 5.3 percent increase over last year's. If approved, the 5.3 percent increased school budget would add 55 cents to the Town's tax rate, bringing the total tax increase to 98 ...
