Dr. Juan A. Landivar has been named director of the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Corpus Christi. Landivar assumed his duties June 2.

Since 1998 Landivar had served as director of technical services for Delta and Pine Land International and Monsanto, and his duties took him throughout South America.

From 1989 to 1998 he served as research crop physiologist at the Corpus Center.

A native of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Landivar earned his doctorate in 1987 in crop physiology at Mississippi State University. He also earned a master's degree there in 1979 in plant breeding and a bachelor's degree in crop science in 1974.
