Use Hot August Days to Plan for Fall Work and Hunters

Let's try a word association exercise. When I say "August" what is the first word you think of?

In central or east Texas the response might be "humid", "sticky", or my favorite when I travel to College Station, "sweltering".

Those of us who live in West Texas might substitute the words "dry", "dusty" or "scorching". Regardless of where you live in Texas, "miserable" and "hot" would be two common descriptors, I suspect.

Unfortunately, on the ranch August can be all of the above as well as one of the busiest months of the year.

For example, my friend Dan Mitchell, ranch manager for Remme Corp., let me take a peek at his to-do list for August. At the ranch, they are preparing for the fall work.
