The city of Lenexa issued the following news release:

Each year, thousands of people from Lenexa and around the metropolitan area gather to celebrate the green leafy vegetable that brought Lenexa fame in the 1930s as the "Spinach Capital of the World," at the Spinach Festival presented by 94.9 FM.

Come shop at more than 90 booths featuring quality art, fine crafts and antiques, and enjoy fun activities including the spinach recipe contest, world's largest spinach salad, games, children's activities, live entertainment, expanded food court and of course, plenty of spinach foods to try.

In celebration of the festival's 25th anniversary, the first 500 attendees will receive a free "green" ...
