About 80 years ago, when the Delaware Canal closed to navigation, preservation talks started.

And to demonstrate the importance of safekeeping the historic canal, W. W. Chambers produced two 20-minute, black and white silent films in the early 1930s.

Chambers made films as a hobby. He was a wealthy man who lived in a cottage around New Hope along the canal.
