ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 25 -- Christian Bratu of St. Nom la Breteche, France, has developed a progressing cavity pump with helical rotor.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The progressing cavity pump includes a helical rotor mounted to turn inside a helical stator. The stator and the rotor are disposed such that the cavities formed therebetween move from the inlet towards the outlet.
