In a retrospective case study, 9 patients were identified who developed collagenous colitis while receiving lansoprazole for a gastric ulcer (patient 1 ) or for gastrooesophageal reflux disease (patients 2-9) [see table for patient characteristics].
All patients reported chronic watery diarrhoea while receiving lansoprazole [Takepron; dosages not stated]; patients 1 and 9 also developed haematochezia.
