April is celebrated nationwide as Financial Literacy Month. It also is Community Banking Month, sponsored by the Independent Community Bankers of America. In addition, April 29 was Teach Children to Save Day, sponsored by the American Bankers Association.
A total of 53 member banks of the Indiana Bankers Association offered financial literacy outreach this past April, with 321 bankers making 750 presentations to 11,554 youth. Two banks focused outreach on adults, reaching 78 community members with information about making sound financial choices.
