Chicago Public Schools will receive 200 new Teach For America corps members this fall, more than ever before, as the national organization places hundreds of top recent college graduates in the district's schools for two-year teaching commitments. These new teachers, who start Sept. 2, will join more than 250 Teach For America alumni still teaching in local schools and 25 who are leading Chicago schools as principals.
A total of 330 Teach For America corps members will teach in Chicago public schools in the 2008-09 school year - 130 second-year corps members, and 200 new teachers, who have just completed their training. This incoming Chicago corps represents a 38 percent increase over last ...
