The year 2.008 might prove to be one of the most pivotal years in the history of the United States, and indeed of the entire world, in a very long time. For starters, after forty-nine years in power, Cuban president Fidel Castro has relinquished his position as head of state. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, continue to fester, causing massive tensions and disruptions in relations between Western and Middle Eastern nations. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan late last year has that nation reeling, costing that country's former strongman, Pervez Musharraf, his majority in parliament in a nation where the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden ...
