Mississippi Democratic Party Chairman Jamie Franks issued the following statement today in reaction to Republican John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate:

"John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate highlights a serious lack of judgment: He wants voters to elect a former part-time mayor of a town of 6,715 people - a person with absolutely no foreign policy and national security experience - to be a heartbeat away from the presidency," said Jamie Franks, chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party.
