Article: LAKE EVERETT TO BE TREATED FOR GIZZARD SHAD ON SEPT. 18

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources issued the following news release:

Proliferation of the invasive species gizzard shad has reached the point to where, according to DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife surveys, they have become the most abundant fish in the lake, outcompeting bluegills, largemouth bass, and other popular sport fish for food.

As a result, the Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) will apply approximately 15 gallons of rotenone, a fish toxicant, to the lake on Sept. 18 to reduce the that population in the 43-acre northwest Allen County lake.
