The city of Norfolk issued the following press release:

Mayor Paul D. Fraim has issued a state of emergency for the City of Norfolk in preparation of Tropical Storm Hanna.

While we appreciate the potential impact of Tropical Storm Hanna, we anticipate this being more equivalent to a moderate nor'easter. Norfolk will open its Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Friday night with appropriate staff levels, elevating to full operational level as may be needed. A recorded message regarding the storm was activated on the Norfolk info-line at 7:30 am Friday and will continue until further notice.
