The ganglion impar represents the fusion of the 2 sacral sympathetic chains and exhibits anatomic variability in its location between the sacrococcygeal junctions to the lower segment of the first coccyx.1 The main indication for blockade of this ganglion is sympathetic pain involving distal pelvic structures. Techniques for the block vary in needle introduction site and route; ganglion impar blockade has evolved according to practical difficulties and complications.
