The Washington state Secretary of State issued the following news release:
Secretary of State Sam Reed said he is delighted with the federal Department of Veterans Affairs' announcement this week that it will no longer ban voter registration drives among veterans living at federally run nursing homes, shelters for the homeless and rehabilitation centers across the nation.
"This is a great victory for the veterans of Washington and the United States, and a victory for democracy," Reed said Wednesday. "Considering that our veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, our government should do all it can to let them exercise one of America's most important and fundamental rights."
