The University of South Carolina issued the following news release:
Award-winning and best-selling poet Naomi Shihab Nye will be the featured poet at the fifth annual South Carolina Poetry Initiative's Poet Summit Sept. 20 at the Columbia Museum of Art.
The event, free and open to the public, will include readings, book signings, a panel discussion on poetry and an open-mic session. It runs from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Nye will host a poetry-writing workshop at 10 a.m. and will read her poetry at 1:15 p.m. She will answer questions and sign copies of her books after the reading.
