CHARLESTON - The State Journal was recently recognized by the West Virginia Press Association with seven awards for journalism excellence.
The weekly business newspaper received three first place awards, three second place awards and one honorable mention in the Press Association's annual Better Newspaper Contest. The awards were announced Aug. 17 at a banquet at Canaan Valley Resort.
The State Journal received a first place award for Best Internet Web site among all of West Virginia's weekly newspapers. Staff Writer Danny Forinash won a first place award for Best News Story and Managing Editor Brandi Jamerson won a first place award for Best Business Page or Section design.
