Washington, Sept. 18 -- The soothing sound of ocean waves along with a calming voice guiding to relax can significantly lower blood pressure in elderly people, finds a new study.
In the study conducted over 41 elderly participants, the researchers found that an audio relaxation program reduced hypertension in older adults.
Twenty participants were asked to listen a 12-minute audio-guided relaxation-training program (ATP) with background sounds of ocean waves and a calming voice for three times a week for four months
While another group of 21 participants listened to a 12-minute Mozart sonata.
