ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 19 -- Toshihiko Ouchi of Kanagawa, Japan, has developed a method for making optical waveguide apparatus.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An optical waveguide apparatus includes an optical waveguide, such as an optical sheet of a two-dimensional slab waveguide, and an appropriately-shaped plated structure provided in the optical waveguide.
