The Importance of Listening Skills in Tax Preparation

To a tax practitioner, the ability to listen effectively may be an overlooked skill that is more important than writing or speaking. Listening carefully to a client is critical in order that a tax issue is properly defined and the subsequent application of the tax law is correct. It would not be unusual for a tax practitioner to spend more time listening to clients than either writing or speaking to them.
