Newer in vivo imaging techniques such as contrastenhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are proving very useful in defining cardiac anatomy and pathology and serving as the gold standard for more indirect biochemical, electrical, and mechanical markers such as the various blood tests, electrocardiography and radiograph, and nuclear ventriculography.
