Ohio Inventors Develop Silicon-Containing Material Environmental Barrier Coating System

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 20 -- Brian Thomas Hazel and Christine Govern, both of Cincinnati, Irene Spitsberg of Loveland, Ohio, and Bangalore Aswatha Nagaraj of West Chester, Ohio, have developed an environmental barrier coating system for silicon-containing materials.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A coating system for Si-containing materials, particularly silicon (Si)-based composites used to produce articles exposed to high temperatures.
