Article: CenterPoint Energy Reports Transmission And Substation Capabilities Restored

Center Point Energy issued the following news release:

As of 8 a.m., CenterPoint Energy reported that 96 percent of transmission circuits and 93 percent of substation capacity are back in service in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.

Transmission line inspections are 99 percent complete. A final system survey will be conducted over the next two days. There were no steel transmission towers or steel or concrete poles down; only 50-60 wood transmission poles were destroyed, the majority of which are located on Galveston Island.

All but six substations are back in service; five of which are located on Galveston Island.
