John G. McAfee, MD, a nuclear medicine pioneer whose groundbreaking research led to major medical advances across the spectrum of imaging practice, died on July 26 in Baltimore, MD. He cofounded the first nuclear medicine facility at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in 1958. He was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1926 and received his medical degree in 1948 from the University of Toronto, with internships at the Victoria and Westminster Hospitals (London, Ontario). He completed radiology residencies at Victoria Hospital and at Johns Hopkins, where he also completed a fellowship.
