Diversity Exemplified throughout Texas A&M Health Science Center

Nearly a decade into the 21st century, racial and ethnic minority populations continue climbing steadily, bringing together varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds to make the United States the "melting pot" it is today.

Unfortunately, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health has found that race and ethnicity are associated with persistent, and often increasing, health disparities among various sectors of the population. Many of these discrepancies are caused by barriers of culture, language and education between the health care provider and patient.
