The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the Charlotte Research Institute have created the J. Chris Murphy Award in honor of a long time friend, educator, mentor, author and entrepreneur Chris Murphy. A founding contributor to the original Five Ventures competition, Chris Murphy was a tireless advocate for student entrepreneurship and education.
Chris Murphy's professional career began in 1950, while at the age of 21 he opened his first business, a roadside frozen custard stand, to help pay for his education at Franklin College in Indiana. Upon graduation, Chris went to work for RCA Corporation where he ...
