American Researchers and the Earliest Cypriots

Although they produced some of the most sophisticated cultures of the ancient world, until recently there was little evidence that most Mediterranean islands were occupied prior to the Neolithic, and the traditional paradigm held that permanent residents did not arrive until late in that period. Many archaeologists believed that the islands were little more than footnotes within the broader Neolithic world.
