The office of Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has issued the following news release:
With country-of-origin labeling now required for products like meat, poultry, and produce, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced legislation to mandate a similar requirement for pharmaceuticals. Brown's call follows a recent admission by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that more American drug companies are outsourcing operations due to cost factors and the existence of weaker drug safety standards abroad.
