For more and more pet owners, the answer is "whatever it takes." Keep these facts in mind the next time you hesitate to suggest the highest level of care.
Do you worry about recommending a medical procedure that costs $150, $500, or $1,500, because you think the price tag will scare off the client? You may be worrying more than pet owners do-and cheating a patient out of the care it needs. The AAHA 2001 Pet Owner Survey found that 35 percent of pet parents would spend any amount necessary to save their pet's life (see Figure 1).
