Dead Sea Scrolls, In The Flesh: Jewish Museum To Show Six Fragments

In the 1940s, religious scholarship had hit a dead end. New ideas about the ancient Hebrews and early Christians were basically just crafty theories based on the same old texts. Then, in 1947, hundreds of unknown religious documents dating from the as early as the second century B.C.E., were discovered near the Dead Sea in Israel. The Dead Sea Scrolls revolutionized religious scholarship, giving rise to entirely new understandings about the Jewish and Christ-following communities around the time of the new millennium.
