SYRACUSE - It's been more than a year since Hiscock & Barclay, LLP first decided to make the leap into the New York City market.
The firm's managing partner, John Langan, has spent the months since last summer traveling between the firm's Syracuse headquarters and New York, learning the market and trying to figure out the best way to crack the city's shell. In the end, Hiscock & Barclay found as many as six small law firms willing to be acquired.
But Hiscock decided against a wholesale acquisition and focused instead on attracting solid attorneys from several firms. The result is the opening of the firm's New York City office last month.
