Issues for an irregular reinforced concrete high-rise building

Engineers often face modeling and analysis issues when designing irregular reinforced concrete buildings, as we encountered during the recent design of a 25-story hotel building being constructed together with a 60-story residential tower in New York City. A dual system of ordinary reinforced concrete structural walls and intermediate slab-column moment frames was used to resist lateral loads at the upper portion, while a building frame system of ordinary reinforced structural walls was used at the lower portion.
