Women making inroads into traditionally male-dominated commercial real estate

Women are making inroads into a variety of high-power industries and the world of commercial real estate is no exception. After decades of male domination, female brokers are finding the doors opening wider every day.

"I think at first there may have been some hesitation for women entering this business. Women are viewed differently in the business world," said Christy Nelson, client services specialist with CB Richard Ellis in Salt Lake City, who started with the company as a receptionist six years ago. "To break through and gain the trust is more difficult for a woman than it is for a man. But we do have people in the business who are supportive and see the value of having women."
