DeWITT - Although The Pioneer Cos. brokered the sale of O'Brien & Gere's 186,000-square-foot Brittonfield Parkway headquarters last week, the firm was ready and willing to buy the building itself, its president says.
Pioneer, a real-estate development and management company, and O'Brien & Gere, an engineering firm, announced in June that Pioneer would buy the building. The announcement cleared the way for construction of a new headquarters building for both companies in downtown Syracuse.
Pioneer was prepared to hold to its commitment to buy and manage the Brittonfield building, but was able to find another buyer, says David Murphy, Pioneer's president and vice chairman.
