Metro Paper expands Carthage plant

CARTHAGE - A Canadian company, called Metro Paper Industries Tissue Group, is investing $2 million in new equipment and an expanded work force at its Metro Paper Industries of N.Y. Inc. unit in Carthage.

The 240,000-square-foot plant at 695 West End Ave. in Carthage had space available that the company wanted to fully utilize, says Karim Jadavji, president.

Now that space is "tapped out," he says. Along with adding new equipment, Metro Paper has already hired 24 new employees. With more machinery and employees, the plant operates around-the-clock production of towels and tissues.
