Orange County NewsChannel has been undergoing a subtle makeover in the last few months since it was acquired from Irvine-based Freedom Communications by cable systems giant Century Communications Corp.

While on-camera faces remain the same, under the new ownership the 4-year-old cable news service has seen its focus broadened, and its format now is in the process of switching from one-hour to half-hour cycles with set times for headline news, sports, weather, traffic and other regular features. A new graphic look is next on the horizon, with more changes expected to follow.
