New GI Bill Benefit Worth $80,000

One year from now, eligible vets can take advantage of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act. In the meantime, here's some information about what they'll actually receive, by Tim Dyhouse

It's free, it's worth about twice what it was before and it's now law. The new GI Bill-signed by President Bush on June 30-will go into effect Aug. 1, 2009, and its supporters hope it will offer Iraq and Afghanistan vets the same boost to their civilian lives as its landmark WWII-era predecessor.
