VFW National Headquarters was saddened by the death of past Commander-in-Chief Ray Sisk, 71, on July 6, 2008, in Talihina, Okla.
Services were held July 10 at Talihina High School. Burial followed at Talihina Cemetery.
Mr. Sisk was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Marshall, Ark He served in the US. Navy from May 1958 to May 1961. As part of the US. 7th Fleet, he was a fireman aboard the USS Midway. He was among thousands of Navy personnel afloat in the crisis-ridden Formosa (Taiwan) Straits during this confrontational era. Later, he was in the Gulf of Tonkin off Vietnam. He earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. That tour was among his three seven-month Pacific cruises. As a machinist's mate ...
