Article: Action Learning for Global Business: The Power of Practicum Projects

ABSTRACT

Action learning is a powerful tool for developing in business students the skills needed in today's dynamic, complex global business environment. This paper describes the use of real client, global practician projects as an action learning approach that successfully expands the world view of students and develops their capabilities for multicultural, analytical and collaborative action. Practician projects also benefit the businesses whose projects are addressed by the student teams. Indeed, the fact that the project is for a real client involving international travel is integral to the goal of creating the opportunity for actionable student learning of global business skills.
