Denmark's Dalum Papir has found a profitable niche in being one of the world's greenest papermakers

IN THIS INDUSTRY, the cost of producing more environmentally friendly products often gets spoken about before the benefits. However, one paper producer that has found a profitable niche in 'green papermaking' is Denmark's Dalurn Papir. The company produces 145,000 tonnes/yr of coated and uncoated printing/writing grades at its mill in Dalum, a suburb of Odense (see box), Dalum Papir is both EMAS and ISO 14001 certified, and its products have a string of environmental labels to their name - European flower, Nordic Swan, Blue Angel, NAPM.
