Article: French Inventors Develop Cigarette Filling Analyzing Method

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 23 -- Jean Remi Poulet of Fleury les Aubrais, France, Georges Cholet of Ormes, France, have developed a method for analyzing cigarette filling.

According to a description of the invention, released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a method and a device for graphically illustrating the profile for filling a cigarette notably in order to control the strengthening amplitude and the position of strengthened tips relatively to the cut of the stem."

The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,439,722 on Oct. 21.

The patent has been assigned to Societe Nationale d'Exploitation Industrielle des Tabacs et Allumettes, Paris.
