Article: Hong Kong, Australian, Inventors Develop Hepatitis B Virus Genomic Marker

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 24 -- Lik Yuen Chan, Kwong Sak Leung and Shu Kam Tony Mok, all from Shatin, Hong Kong, Jao Yiu Joseph Sung and Kwok Wing Stephen Tsui, both of Ma On Shan, Hong Kong, Wai Yee Nancy Leung of Happy Valley, Hong Kong, Kin Hong Lee of Hung Hom, Hong Kong, and Angeline Bartholomeusz of Victoria, Australia, have developed a method of predicting a pre-disposition of HBV-infected individuals to develop hepatacellular carcinoma,the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office announced.

The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,439,020 on Oct. 21.
