Article: French Inventors Develop Pyrotechnic Safety Device

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 7 -- Pierre Magnan of Saint Palais, France, and Renaud Lafont of Bourges, France, have developed a pyrotechnic safety device.

According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a firing safety device for a pyrotechnic device, such device incorporating at least one barrier to block a transmission channel connecting an igniter and a pyrotechnic charge, wherein the barrier is made in the form of at least one micro-machined or micro-engraved element, applied to or made on at least one substrate board, the board being integrated on its edge such that it is substantially parallel to the transmission channel which thus ...
