In 2008, the construction industry - and Bobcat Co. in particular - marked a major milestone as it celebrated the 50th anniversary of the skid-steer loader. Developed by Cyril and Louis Keller in 1957 as a tool to clean out turkey barns, the original "self-propelled loader" was discovered the following year by Lester Melroe, and before long, the historic partnership between the Keller and Melroe brothers was formed.
