Article: Lactobacillus vaccination: Primary biliary cirrhosis?: case report

Primary biliary cirrhosis developed in a 39-year-old woman who had been receiving long-term lactobacillus vaccinations for the prevention of recurrent bacterial vaginitis.

The woman presented with a 3-month history of fatigue and generalised severe pruritus that had caused sleep disturbance. She had been receiving IM lactobacillus vaccine [Gynatren; dose not stated] during the previous 8 years, administered twice within several weeks within the first year, and then at 1-year intervals.
