Article: State Supreme Court Wants Legislature to Fund Drug Courts

CHARLESTON - The state Supreme Court of Appeals says it's time for the Legislature to take a greater role in funding drug courts, with the promise that it will help the state save money.

Drug courts are courts specifically designed to give addicts the treatment and incentives they need to kick their habits. Many states have made drug courts a fixture of their justice systems, but in West Virginia the courts are still an experiment.
